5.1.2. Structure - Coordination of activities

Each of the attention/activity area represents a vital aspect of risk control in the organization. It is therefore important to make sure that things are done properly.

Things need to be done by people who made responsible and accountable and have the necessary authority to act as needed. Assignment of co-ordination responsibilities are vital to success. If the coordination is not clearly assigned including proper mandate to act, chances for success will be limited.

Coordination shall be assigned to a person with proper authority to enable implementation of all activities described in the activity/attention area concerned. This person shall have:

bullet

sufficient knowledge of the specific activities described in the element

bullet

sufficient knowledge of the activities contained in the “quality process”

The coordinator shall have sufficient resources in terms of money, time and assistance to carry out his/her task.

While the coordinator oversees all activities of an individual activity/attention area, specific duties (such as the periodic evaluation of results) may be assigned to another person or - prfarably - to a team of people that have vested interests in obtaining the results desired.

The "quality process" contains items  1, 2, 3.7 and 4 of the generic structure.
