3.1.4. Platform Model - Do

The ultimate objective is to actually implement, carry out or DO the activities that are described in the plan (= management system MAA). Of course after proper training has been provided to all concerned: the people that have to do the actual work and those that have to make sure, supervise or stimulate that it will be done and those who have to periodically evaluate that the work is done and what the results are.

The execution of work according to plan could include:

bulleta schedule - when will the work be done
bulletassignment of work to appropriate people
bulletthe execution of the work
bulletreport or feed-back on work carried out
bulletpossible action plan to correct deviations or to suggest improvements

Periodically the doing will also include:

bulletthe periodic assessment of actual practices

This could be done by people within the unit or department where the activities should be carried out or by people from other departments, staff personnel and even by external people. Preferably  people should be allowed to evaluate their own activities, where desired supplemented by others more distant from the actual work and with less vested interest.

The assessment is comparing what has been done with  what should have been done.  The latter information should be contained in the structure (point 3.7.)of each individual MAA

bulletthe periodic evaluation of results

Basically the same as mentioned under the point above also applies here. Now the objective is not to evaluate what has been doen but what were the results in comparison with the targets and objectives set for each individual MAA. That information should be contained in point 4 of the structure of each MAA.

THE principle of MANAGEMENT RESULTS

"A manager tends to secure most effective results - through and with others - by performing the management work of planning, organizing, leading and controlling."
